*Sorry, this series of Leadership DELI is open exclusively to grantees of the Washtenaw Coordinated Funders. The next series, scheduled to begin in February 2019, will be open to all SE Michigan nonprofits*
Effective advocacy is a critical part of nonprofit and social enterprise leadership. Now more than ever, our leaders are required to have knowledge and skills that leverage their power and influence to advocate on behalf of vulnerable communities and other stakeholders. In this session, you will learn the communication skills, and steps necessary for implementing an effective advocacy strategy, whether at the local, state, or federal level.  We’ll go in depth to cover:

  • Clarifying the advocacy goal
  • Identification of target audiences who have the capacity to execute the goal
  • The nuances of effective coalition-building and stakeholder engagement
  • Message development, including substance and political context
  • Effective follow-up and relationship-building
  • The elements of effective, written advocacy materials
