Community and Economic Development Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School

We provide free legal services to new and established groups engaged in community and economic development efforts.
The Clinic provides transactional assistance to nonprofit and community organizations and social and creative enterprises in Detroit and the metro area in a range of subject matters including organizing and structuring nonprofit corporations and other business entities; drafting, negotiating and reviewing leases, contracts and other agreements; tax; governance; employment; real estate and land use; risk management; and intellectual property. The Clinic seeks to sustain effective organizations and build institutions that provide needed services and opportunities in under-served urban communities and contribute to the economic development of Detroit and Southeast Michigan.
