Ann Gladwin
Resource Specialist

Ann is responsible for the day-to-day operations of ResourceConnect®. She received her MLS degree from the University of Michigan and a BA in Sociology from the University of Delaware. Her experience includes library management for Louis Harris and Associates and volunteerism on many fronts in the New York City public schools. Prior to joining NEW in 2000, she worked at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute.

Dallas Moore
Senior Program Associate

Dallas joined the NEW staff in 2003 and supports the operation and development of the BoardConnect® programs. Her previous work experience includes having been a law librarian, a corporate librarian, an event coordinator, and a project manager. She volunteers for Food Gatherers and serves on the Advisory Board for Eastern Michigan University's American Humanics program. Dallas earned a BA in Linguistics from San Diego State University and an MLS from the University of Michigan.

Diana Kern
Vice President of Programs

After twenty-five years of progressive advancement in real estate management with McKinley, a national real estate investment firm where she supervised multi-million dollar budgets and over 400 employees nationwide, Diana joined NEW as the Director of the BoardConnect® program with a commitment to board governance and strong non-profits. Diana also oversees NEW's ResourceConnect® program, which is the nonprofit community's first stop for assistance with management issues. She has served on numerous boards and been involved in non-profit fundraising. She received the Randolph W. White Memorial Award for Community Service in 2003 for her dedication to serving the housing community. She is also a certified trainer with the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Jean Borger
Development Associate

Jean is responsible for grant writing/administration and assists with general writing and editing for NEW. Prior to joining NEW, Jean served as a project coordinator and writer for the University of Michigan’s Prison Creative Arts Project where she managed programs bringing together college students, community arts mentors, and youth and adults in the criminal justice system for collaborative work in the arts. Jean received her MA and PhD in English from the University of Michigan, where she taught traditional and community-based writing courses. Jean also works as a freelance writer and editor in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.

Justin Lunning
IT Director

Justin is NEW's IT Director. His main role is the development and support of the npServ program. His responsibilities consist of testing and integrating different open source technologies. Before joining NEW, Justin worked for five years as a Systems Analyst at West Shore Computer Services. He has experience in application development, networking, and troubleshooting. He also is an A+ certified Computer Technician and a Network+ certified Network Administrator. Justin received an Associate in Applied Science in Computer Programming from Baker College of Muskegon.

Lia Stevens
Director of Administration and Facility

Lia is in charge of all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the NEW Center facility, including supporting NEW's tenants and maintaining the building and surrounding property. Lia also handles all accounts payable and receivable activities for NEW, as well as a wide variety of other financial and human resource administrative functions. Prior to joining NEW in 1998, Lia was the Regional Hosting Coordinator for the Northeast Service Center of AFS Intercultural Programs. She continues to volunteer with AFS on local and state levels. Lia holds an MA in Spanish Literature from Smith College, Northampton, MA and a BA in Spanish from Upsala College, East Orange, NJ.

Linh Song
npServ™ Director

As npServ™ Director, Linh supports non-profits seeking affordable and reliable IT services. Linh is able to "translate" technical lingo due to her background in software startups ranging from network security solutions to Linux servers. After obtaining a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Linh telecommuted as the executive director of a D.C.-based adoption advocacy organization. Her return to technology signals a continued commitment to the Ann Arbor including her work with the Asian American and adoption non-profit communities.

Michael Haak
npServ™ Administrator

As npServ™ Administrator, Michael deploys npServ technologies and supports the users who rely on them for everyday operations. Michael has worked as a technical trainer, database administrator, and management information systems consultant for schools in Illinois. In addition, he has taught elementary and middle school in Ann Arbor and Detroit. Michael earned a B.A. in Anthropology and in Physics from Grinnell College and an M.A. in education from the University of Michigan.

Nancy Jennings
Development Director

As Development Director, Nancy seeks financial support for NEW's work from a variety of stakeholders. Over the past 10 years Nancy has served a diverse group of nonprofit organizations including Lutheran Social Services of Michigan, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2005, Nancy is a credentialed fundraiser and an alumna of Wayne State University.

Neel Hajra
President and Chief Executive Officer

Neel joined NEW in 2001, and is responsible for ensuring that NEW achieves its mission of helping nonprofits succeed. Over the years his responsibilities have included program management, fund development, and four years as Chief Operating Officer prior to assuming the President/CEO role. During Neel's tenure NEW was named as one of 25 high impact nonprofits in southeast Michigan, and Neel was recently honored as an American Express NGen Fellow. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy, where he has twice been named to its Teaching Honor Roll. He serves on the national steering committee of the NonprofitCenters Network, and co-chairs the Independent Sector's NGen Committee. Before joining NEW, Neel represented Ford Motor Company as an attorney in the Global Business Operations Group. Neel received both his Bachelor of Science in Physics and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan.

Paula Rand
Administrative Assistant

As administrative assistant, Paula supports the Director of Administration and Facility. Although the position involves a variety of duties, she mainly processes accounts receivables and tenant billing. As a graduate of the University of Toronto, Paula spent many years as a professional librarian starting out in corporate and working through academic and public library positions. Her volunteer experience includes University Musical Society, Conger Alumnae Group and the Junior League of Ann Arbor.

Yodit Mesfin Johnson
Outreach and Education Manager

Yodit joined the NEW staff in 2008 and currently supports the organization by evangelizing NEW's products and services to all of SE Michigan. Her role also includes assisting the BoardConnect team with public and private training. Prior to joining NEW, Yodit worked as Program Manager for the Michigan Women’s Marketplace (www.miwomen.com), an online community for businesswomen. In that capacity and since, she has been a frequent speaker and advocate for social entrepreneurship. Yodit was educated at Eastern Michigan University where she studied Marketing and Communications. She is the 2009 recipient of the international Athena Award and serves on several area committees and boards.
